HERBAL CONSULTATIONS AT REDBIRD NEST ACU

At Redbird Nest Acupuncture, Dr. Rodriguez offers herbal consultations for patients looking to treat their conditions with a more natural approach versus pharmaceuticals.  However, herbal formulas are only prescribed after a full intake which includes patient’s providing a list of any medications or supplements they are currently taking.  This helps to research and ensure herbs are prescribed in the most safe way possible to minimize any drug-herbal interactions.  For patients that are currently on many pharmaceutical medications, the treatments may focus on acupuncture and therapeutic bodywork, instead of herbal medicine. In these cases, Dr. Rodriguez may provide more “food as medicine” counseling and guidance so the patient can learn to find the right foods and recipes to address different health ailments that will not counteract the pharmaceutical regimen.

At Redbird Nest Acupuncture, Dr. Rodriguez offers Herbal Consultations on its own with an initial consultation, filling the prescription, and then follow up consultations as needed to see how the herbs help the patient and if the formulas need to be changed as the condition improves or symptoms change.  This herbal consultation is good for patients who would like the benefits of Chinese medicine for their specific conditions but maybe are not ready for acupuncture needles; it is also a good option for children as children often respond quickly to mild doses of herbal formulas without the need for acupuncture.

QUALITY HERBAL PRODUCTS

Regarding the quality of Chinese herbs and herbal formulas, Dr. Rodriguez only partners with herbal companies in the United States that carry herbs and formulas that have undergone strict quality control testing to ensure safety and efficacy of the products she prescribes to patients.  Some formulas will be carried in clinic for same day prescription and customized formulas may take a few days for filling the prescription. Patients will receive clear instructions on how to take the prescribed herbs and when to follow-up for continuity of care. Some herbal formulas may be taken for just a few days for acute conditions like a common cold or flu, other formulas may be taken for several weeks or months for chronic conditions, including pain conditions.
